I enjoyed my coorg visit during my last vacation. It was around 10 hour journey from Panvel junction to Manglore by Konkan railway. And 3 hr journey from Mangalore to Madikeri by car. Mangalore route is parallel to coast. Coorg route is consist of curves and valleys full. When we reached at Madikeri it was morning 9 o’clock. The atmosphere was too cool & fresh. It was like cloud came to touch the road. Everywhere you can see greenery, areca nut (Supari) trees, rubber trees, pepper trees. On first day, we visited Madikeri. Madikeri is the main town of the coorg (koddugu) district. Raja’s seat is one of the scene points. It is present at top of hill. History tells that Raja used to sit at this place to enjoy nice valley greenery & cloudy scenes. Small garden is provided near this Raja’s seat. Then a path through coffee and cardamom plantation leads us towards the Abbey’s falls. The roar of the falls can be heard from road. It is big water fall where we enjoyed water splashing. On second day, we visited Dubare. This place is known for elephant camp. Here we enjoyed elephant ride, Bathing an elephant. As this place is at banks of Kaveri river, we enjoyed boating. Then we visited Nisargdhama, which is nice picnic point. Nisargdhama is an island formed by river Kaveri. Island is accessible through a hanging rope bridge. We saw deer park at Nisargdhama. On third day, we visited Talakaveri. It is the place from where kaveri river origins. It is holy place worshipped for kaveri temple. Nearby place Bhagmandala, which is situated at confluence of three rivers mainly kaveri, kanika & sujyothi. Among these Sujyothi is hidden one. After this we started back to mangalore & then finally to Mumbai. Coorg is nice place to visit. It will relax you from your day to day office life.
